The Appalachian Trail is a hiking trail on the east coast of the United States that goes from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin, Maine. It is the longest trail in the world that is only for hiking. The fastest times for hiking the whole trail can be divided into self supported attempts and supported attempts. Supported meaning being able to travel light and having a support crew to fill your needs. Joe McConaughy completed the trail heading north in 45 days all by himself.
